Someone asked me today if I had finished my book of adventures. I had to think about it for a few minutes. My answer: my adventures are ongoing.
There are some very exciting ones in my near future: The Great Barrier Reef in the north of Australia, Nottingham in the UK, Corsica in France, a range of cool places in the USA, then the Philippines.
I know, all of that sounds incredible. But the best part of these adventures will be meeting up with wonderful friends that I’ve met over the years.
I’m keen to have turtle time with my fellow TWAT on Green Island, near Cairns this weekend to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef.
When I get to the UK in July, I can’t wait to see my friends from High Wycombe who I met at a camp ground in the south of France in 1995. I count the days till I catch up with my French friends who I’ve also known for nearly 30 years. In the USA, I will see my newest friends, who welcomed my into their family on a cruise ship last year. And hopefully my classmates from French School as well.
I’m excited to visit my dear friend who I met at a writers’ workshop 14 years ago, the talented writer and podcaster Liz Mugavero, when I go to Boston. I will go on another road trip, this time in Colorado, with the amazing writer Sherry Harris and her husband Bob, who I also met at that same workshop.
And after all this, I hope to go on some adventures with another new friend I made in California.
Travel is all about seeing beautiful places, for sure. But the best part is the people you meet along the way. I have actually published my first book called Stella’s Secret recently, but it’s a young adult mystery novel. The ‘book’ of my adventures, the Festival of Tina, is not likely to be finished anytime soon. I’m having way too much fun with it.
